About Sally Ann Stilwell
Owner/Creative Director
After graduating from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Graphic Design in 1995, Sally began her career in the educational publishing field as an art director for College Bound—a regional publication provided to high school guidance counselors to share with graduating seniors—giving them tools and information about heading to college. She was responsible for the design of both departments and feature articles.
In 1996 Sally became the art director for Scholastic Marketing Partners, a division of Scholastic Inc. that developed integrated marketing, advertising, and teaching materials to reach educators, students and parents at the K–12 grade level. She designed custom kits, including posters, teaching guides and take-home brochures that displayed the client brand and connected to key core curriculum like Math and Science giving modern, concise lesson plans for teachers and fun, fresh worksheets for students. This was a pivotal position because she was able to build upon her educational publishing skill-set by adding marketing and advertising strategy and tactics.
After leaving Scholastic in 2000, Sally joined Tarsitano Creative, a direct marketing agency, as senior art director. She mastered her skills in strategic marketing over the next 5 years developing hard-hitting print direct mail packages for clients like MasterCard and Columbia House. Many of her packages went on to become control packages with high response rates.
In 2005 Sally joined Wilson Relationship Marketing Services as senior art director and continued developing response-driven print and online communications for both acquisition and retention streams. She focused on innovative formats and creative approaches to break mailbox clutter and get maximum response for clients like Vonage, AOL, AAA and Wells Fargo.
In 2011 Sally joined UMarketing as a senior art director collaborating on response-driven packages for One West Bank, Time Warner Cable, Optimum Business, Visiting Nurse Service of New York, Pennsylvania Power and Lighting and the Oyster Bar.
Throughout these many ventures working on staff, Sally honed her skills in strategy, clear communicative design, production, marketing tactics and developing client relationships. With that, she established CurlyQ Creative in 2007 where she has now included brand identity and package design to her repertoire. In 2014 she started working with the International Rescue Committee designing a multitude of internal documents including large PowerPoint presentations and posters within their Talent Acquisition department and has been supporting StoneTurn Group, a global financial services firm, with their ongoing needs for collateral and thought leadership publication design.
Sally freelances out of her home office in Monmouth County, NJ and enjoys running, hiking, skiing, traveling, photography, coffee—and last but not least—spending time with her labradoodle, Duncan!
